I’ve been selected to present at the Professionals Conference in Prague at the beginning of March. I guess I had best iron out the details of my presentation before then.

We closed submissions for presenters to our Professionals Conference just before the holidays and have now concluded our final choices. We are notifying the presenters and will make it public on the website early next week. The “early bird” reduced pricing for the ticket prices will also be ending very soon. So if you haven’t already bought a ticket I’d suggest you do so soon! mtpc.world

I've tested the "Apps" feature of the new RouterOS release by @mikrotik

Good job. I can see some use cases for some people. While I still think that a router should be a router, there could be some specific situations that could be managed by this.

Have updated the internet setup at our static home. Someone has been taking my wifi advice and turned off a few 2.4GHz radios on their new Unifi install at the clubhouse 500m away. Have swung the LHG52 round a bit and found a 5GHz SSID I can connect to very well. Have also added an old LHG-LTE as a quick test backup. If tests for a couple of days show it works ok, I’ll order an ATL and sort out the CAT5 mess. Both LHGs are powered by a PowerBox with recursive routing for failover. 👌

Vertically looking upwards photo of a TV antenna pole mounted on the side of a static mobile home. On the pole is a UHF TV aerial and a pair of MikroTiks. Top one is a dual band LHG52 dish, lower one is a temporary LHG-LTE dish. CAT5 and coax cables are not neatly tied to the pole yet. The photo also shows a conifer tree and a clear night sky with stars clearly visible.

Playground setup with Raspberry Pi 5 and Mikrotik hEX router.

The Pi, with a M.2 HAT+ Compact, is running Raspberry Pi OS Desktop.

The hEX is running RouterOS 7.20.6, without a default configuration. Right now it's acting more like a switch.

I'm using Raspberry Pi Connect to access the Pi from outside my home network, and mostly ssh and WinBox to access the devices when inside, but Connect also works here.

Don’t understand 90% of the backend settings but I’m sure I’ll figure that out with time. Have told it to crawl only trusted resources every few days. Boy is it fast at generating me results. Zero adverts. Zero unknown algorithms pushing one site above another. I love it. Use it every day now over of any other search engine when researching anything MikroTik related. Have also now added some Ham Radio sites to crawl too
