He's my lifesaver. The FTTC lines are still down and the ETA for a fix is Sunday - and frankly, I don't think it'll happen before Monday.
AKA, for the next few days, he'll be the one keeping the home network connected to the world.

The router is resting centrally on an ornate, antique-style gold-plated end table with a faux-marble top. The "MIKROTIK" logo and a set of active blue and green LED indicator lights are visible on the router's front panel. In the background, there is an elaborate gold and crystal chandelier, a dark wooden cabinet, and connected black power cable. The lower shelves of the decorative table are also partially visible, holding other crystal items and a brochure. The lighting is warm.

Back from the office, with the 5G - the coverage isn't great here, only 4G, but constantly having 50/20 mbit/sec. More than enough until they'll restore the connections.

It adds complexity because OPNsense for example does do some th8ngs automatically and with this you have to think… but thats ok.

Anyone here use a router via ssh? One thing that's always bothered me is that `/log print` doesn't paginate, which seems utterly bizarre to me given that other `print` commands paginate by default. There is a `without-paging` argument for `/log print`, which seems utterly redundant given that it never paginates anyway. Aside from filtering the log by time (which is very fiddly) or topic (which doesn't always help much), is there some way to make the damned thing paginate or at least print a tolerable number of lines?

LibreNMS and MikroTik are a great combination.

A client reached out because they had no clear idea how their queues were configured or whether they were actually needed. After all, "everything seems to be running fine.". The usual mantra: "if eveything's working, what am I paying you for?"

I pulled up LibreNMS, grabbed a couple of screenshots, and suddenly everything made sense.
                                    The response? "WOW."

I wanted to set up presence detection in Home Assistant without exposing my installation to the internet, and without giving the companion app on my phone access to location data.

I use MikroTik network gear at home, so I added the Mikrotik integration to Home Assistant. It showed my phone as a MAC address, connected through Wifi, and I used that as device tracker. Everything seemed fine, but then the next afternoon. the device tracker still showed me as Away.

I then discovered that GrapheneOS (edit: Android rather, see below) uses a different random MAC address for each connection to a network, as default. Changed it to use a static random MAC for my home network, and now it works as intended.

All this to avoid running the Morning Coffee automation if I'm not even home.

I've bought esim (for my Chateau 5G 17ax) from another operator which has cell tower a bit closer. Signal is steal weak but at least RSRP usually stays below -100 dBm.
In the morning I got 135Mbps of download speed.

I've only ordered one for now which will replace the UniFi AC Pro that is mounted on the upstairs landing ceiling. If I feel I need another once I'm happy with the first one then I'll fit it in the living room as I've cables run there too.
