In a nutshell, IF you’ve removed the default #MikroTik firewall or you’ve opened up SSH login to the entire world you’re at risk. One Reddit user has reported over a dozen of their routers were compromised on 2nd Sept. None of those devices had a firewall configured to block access to any management ports. @securitym0nkey @mikrotik My take is if the management services (especially SSH) are not able to be connected to by unauthorised sources, the device isn’t vulnerable, regardless of what version it has on it. If #MikroTik have not published more details it could also be because there isn’t anything more to be said. They have provided us with a suggested action plan and for us we now know that no action is required immediately but at the next maint window we will upgrade. Until then we will test.

i've been having a few issues with hardware IPv6 forwarding in MikroTik switches and finally found a way to reproduce at least one issue (tested with 7.24.1 on a CRS312):

- add an IPv6 route via a non-bridge port using an LL address that the switch hasn't yet learned (e.g., "/ipv6/route/add dst-address=2001:db8::1/128 gateway=fe80::1%ether1"),

- the switch will immediately learn the LL address with the correct Ethernet address,

- the route will be installed in the RIB and advertised to OSPF peers as expected,

- but it won't be installed in the hardware FIB and will be ignored when routing. (typical symptoms being routing loops or packets going via the wrong route.)

disabling and re-enabling the route after the ND entry is learned fixes the problem, so i suspect the issue is it takes too long to learn initially and doesn't correctly reprogramme the hardware when it does.

this isn't the problem i was trying to reproduce (which is that sometimes L3HW is just disabled for some traffic and routed via the CPU instead), but i suspect many of these L3HW bugs are related, so we'll see what support says.

I really need to learn #ipv6 better. At the house, I have a Verizon business line (not their residential service). I've got dedicated ipv4 addresses. I also have an ipv6 range that gets mapped by them.

The same line runs my ISP stuff and I'm trying to do a bit of segmentation. At first I thought I'd get a hurricane electric range, because it would be stable. I could count on it. Silly me, I went and got 3 HE ranges assigned to 3 different segments. That's dumb and the router doesn't like it.

I'm winding down the HE tunnels. That doesn't seem to be very effective. But I'm not sure (a) how to configure my #mikrotik to pick up whatever v6 range my ISP is sending, and (b) partition it into a couple predictable ranges. I think they delegate a /64. and then (c) assign those ranges to certain sets of systems. (They're already segregated on IPv4 /24s)

I also don't know how stable the Verizon assignment is. I'm nervous about possibly publishing AAAA records for stuff only to find that VZ delegates a new prefix one day and all that stops working.

I really want to learn, but there's so much randomness introduced by ISPs who don't document how stuff works.

@audin ich hab nen reinen Router hinter der Fritze und die Fritze nur als Modem d.H. Bridgemodus. Wenn Du was hinter die Fritze als „Exposed Host“ setzt verteilt sie immer nur ein /64, auch wenn der Provider was grösseres der Fritze gibt!

In meinem Fall bekomme ich von Voda ein /59 (Isso!) per DHCPv6, das dann vom #mikrotik „verteilt“ wird. Je ein /64 für das Hauptnetz, Gastnetz, IoTnetz…
