Ticket prices for next year’s Professionals Conference are reduced until October 31st. Early birds really do catch the worm as space is also limited for the VIP Dinner so please make sure you book your tickets early rather than at the last minute and find we’re sold out. See mtpc.world for more info. Also we’re now calling for presenters for MikroTik related tech talks. Got a great solution using their gear? Tell us about it and you could be presenting it in March! 😀

We are proud to announce the third and highly successful MikroTik Professionals Conference will be held at the Hotel Duo in Prague on the 12th to 13th March 2026.
Tickets are now on sale on our website mtpc.world
After negotiations with the hotel, event tickets are now a lower cost than last year and we’ve also managed to negotiate a 40% discount on hotel rooms, so along with low cost flights to/from Prague you now have no excuse to miss the biggest 100% event in Europe 😀

Returning to the Valley from SF, feeling mostly quite tired (in a generally good way). Will soon depart, then work, then sometime in the evening decided whether to install a MikroTik CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe, or a Mellanox CX-5 2x25G (OCP v2 form factor) mounted on a PCIe converter card. 🤔

Ok, suppose it's time to get ready.

After moving my network setup to a rack I needed to finish configuring my new router (a MikroTik L009UiGS), one of the things I needed to setup was some better network monitoring.

I have previously played with this using Suricata and inserting a small managed switch to act as a network tap. This worked pretty well, but was only monitoring a small subsection of my LAN.

With the new router it […]

This should make doing traffic analysis a lot easier and mean I don't need to stick an extra switch in the mix as an Ethernet tap

Hey @mikrotik #mikrotik I would need some clarification. I'm thinking of buying the CRS305. My planned usecase would be that the router would be connected to one of the SFP+ ports, and I would use one other SFP+ port to connect to my desktop, and the RJ45 port would be used for my laptop. But the description says that the single RJ45 port is for management. And then again the user manual says that all interfaces are on the same bridge and used for switching. So, can I use that port for regular traffic?

On my way home now after a week training a to engineers at a global Maritime satellite hardware manufacturer and operator in the North East. It always still amazes me when I find out some networking gear really actually has a RouterBOARD inside it. A very large number of vessels especially Cruise ships have these in them to segregate crew traffic from passenger traffic and apply QoS and firewalling.
